Co-op Work Experience
Students in the Diploma program must complete a 480 hour co-op education to graduate from this program. You will start your work term on completion of your six month study term. You have up to 24 weeks in which to complete your 480 co-op hours. Students typically do their co-op work experience in a hospitality, tourism or customer service organization as these jobs allow you to develop communication, culture, professional and personal skills. Jobs are mostly low skill, service positions in Vancouver, Whistler, resorts areas of BC and Alberta and sometimes in Ontario.
Living abroad can be costly, but at Tamwood Careers you can earn money while you study to help with living expenses. No matter which program you’re in, your Canadian study permit will allow you to work part-time (20 hours per week) during the study term and full time (40 hours per week) during your term breaks.
Tamwood Careers offers workshops, hiring fairs and tools, like a Hot Jobs List, to assist you in finding work fast! Most students find entry-level jobs in hospitality, retail or tourism and earn an average of $11-$15 per hour.
